Thanksgiving Art Activities
As autumn rolls in and farmers work on their harvest, the crows will be looking for free goodies. Make this cute little crow to celebrate fall!
Supplies:
2 small plastic cups (bathroom size)
2 cotton balls
2 medium wiggle eyes
1 red button
scrap of orange craft foam (or construction paper)
scrap of orange construction paper
Acrylic craft paint: black and goldenrod
scissors
white craft glue
Instructions:
- Cover table with newspaper, a plastic tablecloth or a large sheet of paper.
- Paint one of the cups black and the other with goldenrod. Set cups aside to dry. (This could be done on a Monday/Tuesday by the kids so the project can be completed on Wednesday/Thursday).
- Cut a triangle from the orange craft foam for the beak.
- Cut a heart shape for the feet from orange construction paper.
- When paint is dry, use scissors to cut thin slits (fringes) halfway up the goldenrod cup, going all the way around. Bend the “fringes” upward to form the hat.
- Turn the hat over and put 2 cotton balls inside the cup. Glue hat to the bottom end of the black painted cup. Let dry.
- On Wednesday/Thursday, have the kids glue 2 wiggle eyes and beak onto the cup under the hat.
- They then would also glue the red button to the front side of the hat.
- You would have to help them glue the heart feet to the opening of the black cup, bend the construction paper up into the sides of the cup so that just the “feet” stick out.

Tissue Paper Indian Corn Craft
![](https://i0.wp.com/www.freekidscrafts.com/images/projects/tissue_paper_indian_corn.jpg)
Supplies:
Tissue paper, black, white, yellow, green and orange
Scissors
Instructions:
Click on Printables and print out the Indian Corn pattern. Cut out.
Cut tissue paper into 2″ squares and crumple into tight balls. Dip into tacky glue and arrange in rows for the corn.
Note: The children will probably not be able to roll up the tissue in that tight of balls, nor glue them precisely like in the picture. As long as you have the print out for them and they get to glue some of the balls that they rolled (or you helped them roll), then that is plenty and their parents will get the idea! This is a great fine motor activity.
- Materials:
-
- Sheet of double-sided mounting adhesive (found in the scrapbook section of craft stores; we used Therm o Web PeelnStick)
- Card stock
- Dried navy beans, lentils, split peas, and other dried legumes and grains
- Cornmeal
- Instructions:
-
- For each mosaic, adhere a sheet of double-sided mounting adhesive to the center of a sheet of card stock.
- Expose the front of the sheet and have kids press on dried navy beans, lentils, split peas, and other dried legumes and grains.
- When the picture is complete, sprinkle a generous amount of cornmeal all over the mosaic: the small pieces will coat any remaining exposed adhesive. Flip the mosaic upright over a piece of scrap paper and gently shake it to remove any excess cornmeal.
